Question: is greek fire real and if so how can it be created
Asked by spursboy to Faye, Martin, Mus, Pete on 27 Apr 2012.
answered on 27 Apr 2012:
Greek fire did exist a long time ago, but the exact ingredients aren’t known. I don’t really know much more than that, sorry!
Maria commented on 11 May 2012:
Greek fire was used in battles during the Byzantine Empire era and it was very effective. The Byzantines won a lot of battles because of it. The ingredients were kept a secret and unfortunately this secret was lost through the centuries. From what I can gather it was a kind of flammable liquid that was thrown to the enemy and could not be put out easily. It must have contained crude oil among other explosive materials.
