0 Question: Why do scientists call it research when looking for something new? Keywords: language, research Asked by abzdebest to Jemma, John, Katie, Lisa on 9 Jul 2012.
John Perry answered on 9 Jul 2012:
Hi @abzdebest,
I’ve come across this before – it comes from old French and means something like “to go in search of”. The “re” part of it is not related to re-doing something, it is simply just the translation from French.
