Like much of the english language “fat” is a term that can be used loosely, and scientists endeavour to define their terms very precisely, and is influenced by the context is which the term is used (for example, for a general practitioner, the term “fat” may relate to one of several symptoms that may predispose a patient to type 2 diabetes. In sum, it’s important to be precise, and also understand the context in which the term is being used.
