That’s a good question and depends on a number of things; what training you are doing already, what aspects of fitness you want to improve upon (e.g., aerobic fitness, power). These factors will influence the training that is best for you. Many elite athletes will have what’s called a “periodised” programme in which different elements of fitness are combined together in a training cycle so what while one aspect of fitness is developed, others are maintained.
