      I really liked Pete’s answer to this question, and I’ll only add the following. What’s really amazing about the brain for me, is its sense of “plasticity”, that is over time and with repeated use certain areas of the brain can change and adapt. For example, following an amputation or structured training for musicians, the brain can “re-organise” itself (to some degree). The “hard” question of how our conscious experience emerges from our brain’s activity is one that has captivated many…and remains elusive….
