The answer to this is we aren’t really sure why people dream, or indeed why people sleep! It may be that sleep serves a restorative function on the brain. It has also been observed that people who read something immediately before bed are more likely to remember it the next day suggesting that memories might be formed during sleep, so make sure you get plenty during exams weeks
