That’s a really difficult question answer, mainly because I don’t think we know too much about the full extent of the problem in the oceans. Some scientists have argued that for many types of sea life (shellfish for instance), increased levels of ocean adicity are already starting to have an effect. I guess the question is whether or not they will adapt to their current environment, or whether we can do anything about reversing the effects, in time to avoid a disaster (although it’s worth bearing in mind that any things we do to mitigate the problem might also have a bad impact, too).
