This would depend on the type of surgery you were having. Some people, often ‘celebrities’ (because plastic surgery can be very expensive) have had tens of procedures; the world record for the most procedures is 52! However, just one procedure could be too dangerous if something was to go wrong.

Any surgery where products that are not naturally found in the body are inserted into the body, like botox or fillers to plump up wrinkles or breast implants are dangerous to some extent because people can have allergic reactions to these products. The anaesthetic that puts you to sleep or numbs the area can also carry some risks. It would be dangerous to have too much plastic surgery in a short period of time because your body needs to recover and heal properly each time else you risk doing further damage to yourself. People have been left with facial twitches when having plastic surgery on their face (like a facelift or botox) because the surgery has damaged the nerves under the skin.

Not only can there be physical dangers to plastic surgery but also psychological dangers when people become obsessed with their appearance so they have more and more operations. This is sometimes called body dysmorphia.

A good plastic surgeon would always explain the risks to you and they would refuse to give you a treatment if they thought that they were putting you and your health at risk by doing it. These risks are why non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures have become more popular.

Of course, plastic surgery is not always cosmetic and it’s very important for people born with or who develop disfigurements that can be helped with plastic surgery, like burns victims for example.
