• Question: what do you find so interesting about knee replacements?

      Hi Molly,

      There are lots of things I find interesting about knee replacements, for various reasons.

      Firstly, I think its really impressive how people have managed to design something that is capable of being inserted into the human body and works with it to improve the life of the patient – this is true with anything from knee replacements to heart pacemakers. It’s great to see how they have developed over the years too.

      I also love the gory stuff – its really quite shocking how similar a knee replacement operation is to some household DIY – even down to the tools and equipment used (although of course with much skill and hygeine!) and I have been lucky enough to watch some live surgery recently which is really fascinating!
