Great question! There are two types of plasma; in biology, plasma is basically the liquid part of your blood. In physics though, plasma refers to a state of matter in which gaseous particles become charged, and so can be affected by magnetic fields. Apparently, plasma is the most common state for matter to be in in the universe!

Plasma is the colorless fluid part of blood, lymph, or milk. It has fat globules suspended in it too! As Pete says, that’s the biological side to plasma. In physics, plasma is sometimes referred to as the “fourth state of matter” (the other three being solid, liquid, and gas) and it contains electrically charged particles.
