When you see that it is time to go this is because an electrical message has been sent from your eyes along your nerves to your brain. Your brain then has to send a new electrical message to the muscles in your body to enable you to move. Even though these messages travel really fast (some up to 100 metres per second) there is always a small delay because it does take some time for your brain to tell your muscles to contract or relax so you can move.
