• Question: when mosquitoes bite you do they swap how much blood they've taken and replace with irritant acid?

Not quite! When they bite you, it’s because they want to feed on your blood. They inject the bite wound with a goo that stops the blood going dry, which makes it easier to drink. Having this goo inside the bite is what makes it swell and stay swelled up for a few days afterwards, but the mosquitoes take more blood than the goo they inject you with!
