• Question: Why are chromosomes so important in our lives

      Chromosomes are really important, because they’re made up of DNA, which is wrapped up into a really small space, so that it can fit easily into a cell. DNA contains the information that makes up who you are, and without it, you simply wouldn’t exist. Inside each cell in your body is about 2 meters of DNA; without chromosomes to keep them all wrapped up tightly, they wouldn’t be able to fit in there.

      Chromosomes are really important because the contain all of the information that makes you who you are! The two main things that chromosomes contain are DNA and protein – both of these are essential to your existance…our DNA is what makes us look the way we do, act the way we do, and even feel the way we do, and without protein, our cells wouldn’t be able to survive for very long! The biological map of who you are is laid out perfectly in each and every one of your chromosomes, which are so small that you couldn’t see them with a naked eye. Pretty cool, huh? 🙂
