• Question: Why did you want to become a Scientist?

      That’s a great question, thanks for asking it! I always enjoyed things like Biology and Physics when I was at school, and knew that I wanted to become a scientist of some description, but I never really knew what sort. I ended up applying to do Computer Science at University, and had an awful time – I was really bad at it, I didn’t understand it at all, and my grades were rubbish. As it happened at the time, I was taking Psychology as an open unit (basically on the side, just for fun). I’d never done any Psychology at school, and I’d fancied trying something new and different. I absolutely loved it; I found all of the research – everything from how you form social groups to how your eyes work – really exciting. I knew then that I wanted to learn more about how the human mind works, and I wanted to do that research myself! So at the end of my first year, I swapped degrees, and I’ve never looked back.

      I really enjoyed Biology and Chemistry at school so science I’ve been interested in science for a long time 🙂 When I was choosing what to to at College (sixth form), I wanted to take Psychology to try something completely new that I’d never done before…I absolutely loved it! I learnt all about really old experiments such as Pavlov’s Dogs as well as modern theory and research. I’ve also always loved sport and have been involved with lots of different types of sports at all different levels 🙂 So it seemed like a good idea to combine the Psychology with Sport and do Sport Psychology 🙂 I’ve never looked back and really love what I do 🙂
